Akuh pledges Medal Haul To NWF President Ahead Of Mongolia Competition

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Akuh Purity, the Nigerian women wrestling coach, has assured Adewale Adeniyi, President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) of good performance at the upcoming third ranking series in Mongolia.

Akuh who spoke on Tuesday in Abuja said that the president covered all logistics and participation arrangements for the team.

 Reports shows that Team Nigeria wrestlers arrived in Mongolia today ahead of this year’s 3rd ranking series while they departed Nigeria on Monday night aboard Turkish Airline.

The NWF has registered four wrestlers to showcase their mettle on the global stage in Mongolia.

Report shows that four female wrestlers will represent the country in different categories, Mercy Genesis 50kg, Tolulope Ogunsanya 53kg, Esther Kolawole 62kg, and Hannah Ojo 76kg.

According to the coach, the team will fight to earn points, establish world rankings, and secure top seeds for World Championships.

He thanked Adeniyi for his invaluable investment in the wrestling team and immense contribution to wrestling development in Nigeria.

Akuh, who is also the chairman of the Federation Technical Committee, said the support is a deliberate effort to ensure wrestling continue to make global impact and success.

“On behalf of athletes and the entire wrestling community, I express profound appreciation to the Federation President for his unwavering support and dedication to wrestlers’ welfare,” he said.

“His contribution continues to create opportunities for athletes to compete at the highest level and showcase Nigeria’s talent globally,” he added.

reports shows that the third United World Wrestling (UWW) Ranking Series for female wrestling in Mongolia, tagged ‘Ulaanbaatar Open’, is held annually on the international calendar.

This is the third of four UWW Ranking Series tournaments, offering wrestlers crucial seeding points.

The championship will commence on June 4 and is expected to end on June 7 in Mongolia.
