LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The police on Tuesday arraigned a 23-year-old woman, Babatunde Funmilayo, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of N460,000.
The defendant, whose address was not stated, is facing trial on a count charge of stealing, to which she, however, pleaded not guilty
The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 10 at about 9:00 p.m. at Irona Street in Ado-Ekiti.

Oriyomi said that the defendant stole the sum of N460,000 belonging to the complainant, Mrs Idowu Jamiu.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Emmanuel Olowolafe, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of 100,000, with one surety in like sum.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till June 15 for hearing.
