ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa on Saturday visited Ogbomoso in Oyo following the abduction of school pupils and teachers in the state.
The high-level Federal Government delegation met with community leaders and families of the victims as efforts continue to secure the release of those still held captive.
The visit comes after gunmen abducted teachers and pupils from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026.
During the visit, officials held discussions with affected families and reassured residents that security agencies were intensifying operations to rescue the abducted victims.

The incident has sparked widespread concern across Oyo State, leading to protests and renewed calls for improved security around schools and rural communities.
On the same day, Governor Seyi Makinde also visited Ogbomoso, where he appealed for calm and urged residents to support ongoing rescue efforts.
Makinde told community members that his administration was working closely with security agencies and holding regular security meetings to ensure the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.
He urged residents not to politicise the incident, stressing the need for cooperation between state and federal authorities in tackling insecurity.
The governor expressed sympathy with the victims’ families, describing the abduction of children and teachers as painful and unacceptable.
Security operations are still ongoing as authorities intensify efforts to locate and rescue the abducted individuals, while anxiety continues to grow across affected communities in Oyo State.
