ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed various results of its recent primary elections circulating on social media, stressing that only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has the authority to announce the official outcome of the exercise.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC said the results of the nationwide primaries conducted on May 28 and 29, 2026, remain in the custody of the NEC and should not be confused with unofficial figures being shared online.
The party urged members, supporters and stakeholders to disregard all purported results circulating across social media platforms, emphasizing that they do not represent the official position of the party.
“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026.

“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council (NEC) of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results,” the statement said.
The NDC further disclosed that a meeting of the NEC has been convened following a directive by the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, to consider issues arising from the primary elections.
According to the statement, all NEC members have been directed to arrive in Abuja on June 2 for a pre-NEC meeting, while the main NEC session is scheduled to hold on June 3.
The party assured members and the wider public that the official results of the primaries would be released after the completion of its internal procedures and the submission of its list of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to INEC,” the statement added.
The announcement comes amid growing interest in the outcome of the NDC primaries, with party officials insisting that only declarations made through the NEC should be regarded as authentic and binding.
