LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared his long-term vision for his music catalog, revealing plans to regain full ownership of his masters from Sony and secure future royalty earnings for his children.
The award-winning singer made the revelation during an appearance on The Long Form podcast, where he discussed the importance of ownership in the music business and why artists should pay close attention to the financial side of their careers.
According to Davido, his goal is to buy back his music masters from Sony, the international record label that currently holds them.
He explained that owning his recordings is a key part of his long-term plans, especially when it comes to building wealth for his family.
“I have a good music contract. But the most important thing is ownership. I plan to get my masters back from Sony soon. With that I can give each of my kid songs they will keep earning royalties from even after I retire,” Davido said.

Artists who own their masters earn more from their work and can decide how their music is used in the future.
