LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nestlé Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to improving nutrition and community development with the hosting of the Nestlé for Good Summit 2026, a stakeholder gathering focused on addressing some of Nigeria’s most pressing food, health and sustainability challenges.
Held in Lagos, the summit brought together key players from government, healthcare, academia, civil society, development organizations, the private sector and the media to discuss collaborative strategies for improving nutrition outcomes and supporting resilient communities.
Amid Nigeria’s evolving changes in public health, nutrition and food security concerns, the event highlighted an urgent need for coordinated action across multiple sectors.
Among the high-profile attendees were the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, and the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi.
They joined development partners, public health experts and business leaders in examining ways to strengthen local food systems and improve access to nutrition across different stages of life.
Discussions at the summit focused on practical approaches to tackling interconnected challenges linked to nutrition, livelihoods and environmental sustainability.
Participants also highlighted the importance of partnerships in driving long-term solutions capable of creating measurable impact.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria Plc, Wassim Elhusseini, said the initiative reflects the company’s belief in creating shared value through its operations.
“At Nestlé, we are guided by a simple but powerful purpose: to unlock the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come. Delivering good food consistently and at scale depends on strong systems across the value chain — from responsible sourcing and manufacturing to distribution, livelihoods, capability development, and environmental sustainability,” he said.
Elhusseini explained that the Nestlé for Good platform provides a more connected representation of the company’s impact across nutrition, thriving communities and environmental stewardship.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem commended Nestlé Nigeria for creating a platform that encourages meaningful discussions on issues affecting both public wellbeing and economic growth.
“The conversations we are having today are not only about food. They are about human capital, productivity, public health, economic growth, and ultimately, the future of our society,” she said.
She further stressed the need for continued collaboration between governments, businesses, development institutions and local communities to improve nutrition outcomes nationwide.
Offering additional insight into the company’s strategy, the Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria, Victoria Uwadoka, noted that the summit helped showcase how various aspects of the company’s work contribute to healthier communities.

“Nestlé for Good is not simply about showcasing individual initiatives. It is about demonstrating how our products, sourcing, partnerships, and community investments connect in practical ways to support healthier lives and more resilient communities,” she stated.
Also speaking at the event, tHead of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability for Central and West Africa, Patricia Ekaba, highlighted the importance of adopting long-term solutions rather than focusing solely on short-term interventions.
“Sustainable progress requires looking beyond short-term interventions. Business growth and social progress are interconnected, and lasting impact comes from creating value for both the business and the communities it serves,” Ekaba stated.
A major highlight of the summit was an impact showcase featuring real-life stories from beneficiaries of Nestlé-supported programmes.
The presentations focused on women empowerment, youth development, dairy farming initiatives and environmental sustainability projects, demonstrating how targeted interventions are helping improve livelihoods and strengthen communities.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore how Nestlé’s products and programmes contribute to nutrition, economic empowerment and sustainability throughout different stages of the food value chain.
Ultimately, the summit showcased the growing recognition that addressing nutrition and development challenges requires collective action.
