ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Office of former President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed a viral Instagram account operating under the handle @goodluck_ebelejonathan, describing it as fraudulent and a case of impersonation.

In a statement issued on Friday, Jonathan’s media aide, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, clarified that the former president does not own, operate, or maintain any personal Instagram account.

According to Eze, the account has repeatedly altered its identity while creating the false impression that it belongs to the former president.

“May the public take note that the account represents itself as a fan page at times and impersonates the former president most of the time.

“The username has been changed 13 times and counting and we hope that Meta does the needful in due time,” he said.

Eze further stated that the account frequently switches between portraying itself as a fan page and impersonating Jonathan, warning that its activities are intended to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
