ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A 2027 presidential aspirant under the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Mrs Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju, has resigned from the party and demanded a refund of her nomination fee, citing what she described as an “unfair” primary process.

In a resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance and obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria, she said her exit followed the party’s failure to conduct a free and fair presidential primary.

Busari-Akinnadeju criticised the party leadership for allegedly adopting a consensus arrangement, which she argued undermined internal democracy and violated party principles.

“I do not resign in defeat. I resign because I am not permitted a fair contest,” she stated, adding that she would not associate with a process that had abandoned its own rules.

She formally requested a refund of her presidential nomination fee, saying the party failed to provide the fair and lawful primary it promised.

She also demanded the return of personal documents and materials submitted to the party during her membership and participation process.

Despite her resignation, she insisted her political ambition remained intact, stressing that she would continue her 2027 presidential aspiration under a platform she considers credible.

“My commitment to the 2027 presidential race is undimmed,” she said, adding that recent developments had only strengthened her resolve for political reform.

She further argued that a party unable to conduct a transparent internal election cannot be trusted to govern a country fairly.

Busari-Akinnadeju, who hails from Akungba Akoko in Ondo State, reaffirmed her dedication to the broader “Dare Nigeria” political movement.
