ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday visited former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi at his Abuja residence, following the conclusion of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary.
Atiku, who emerged winner of the party’s presidential ticket for the 2027 general election, was accompanied on the visit by former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former ADC National Chairman Ralph Nwosu, and other party leaders.
The meeting came amid reactions trailing the just-concluded ADC presidential primary, where Atiku defeated Amaechi and former banker Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The primary was held on Wednesday night at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
According to the official results released by the party, Atiku secured 1,846,370 votes to win the ticket, while Amaechi polled 504,117 votes. Hayatu-Deen came third with 177,120 votes.

Following the declaration of results, the party leadership, led by former Senate President David Mark, presented the ADC flag to Atiku as its presidential candidate.
The ADC had adopted a direct primary system after the three aspirants reportedly declined earlier calls for a consensus arrangement.
Speaking after his victory, Atiku called for unity within the party, urging aggrieved aspirants and members to close ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I therefore appeal to all those who feel aggrieved to come back to our party and close ranks with the rest of us,” he said.
He also extended a direct invitation to Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen to join forces with him.
“In particular, I invite Chief Rotimi Amaechi and Alhaji Muhammad Hayatu-Deen to join me in this fight to save our democracy and our country,” Atiku stated.
However, both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen reportedly rejected the outcome of the primary, alleging irregularities in the voting process, with Hayatu-Deen also boycotting the result announcement.
Details of the Thursday meeting between Atiku and Amaechi were not disclosed as it was held behind closed doors.
