ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he would not remain powerless in a party where he could no longer protect the interests of his people.
Omo-Agege announced his exit from the APC in a statement dated May 22, 2026, which was signed by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh.
The former senator said his decision followed recent political developments within the party in Delta State and extensive consultations with political associates and supporters.
According to him, the consultations convinced him that his political future and the interests of his constituents would be better pursued outside the APC.

In his resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Omo-Agege stated: “I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.”
The former lawmaker, who represented Delta Central Senatorial District and served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunity to serve in several capacities during his time in the party.
He also asked that his name be removed from all APC membership records and communication platforms.
Despite his exit, Omo-Agege assured supporters that he remains committed to the development of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria, promising to continue active political participation and representation outside the ruling party.
