ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The sole presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, hope, and sacrifice as Muslims across the country join the world to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

The former Anambra State governor made the appeal in a goodwill message shared on his X account to mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Obi said the festival reflects enduring values such as faith, obedience to God, compassion, and love for humanity, stressing the need for Nigerians to hold on to these principles despite current national challenges.

He called for prayers focused on unity and national renewal, noting that Nigeria’s difficulties require collective sacrifice and renewed commitment to nation-building.

According to him, the essence of Eid-el-Kabir reinforces the belief that fulfilment comes through sacrifice and selflessness.

Obi said Nigeria remains a country with vast potential but is currently weighed down by avoidable challenges that demand urgent attention.

He urged citizens to remain hopeful for a functional, just, and inclusive nation where every group and individual has a sense of belonging.

The former governor also called for prayers for security personnel on the frontlines, wisdom for national leaders, and relief for citizens facing economic hardship.

He further encouraged Nigerians to strengthen peace, tolerance, and mutual respect across religious and regional divides.

Obi concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying for renewed hope and unity across the country.
