LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially announced his funeral arrangements weeks after his death from kidney cancer.
In a statement shared through the actor’s social media pages, the Ekubo-Okwaraeke family expressed gratitude for the support they have received from fans, friends and colleagues since the tragic loss.
They described the actor as a loving man whose life touched many people both on and off screen.
“Forever in Our Hearts. With profound sorrow, yet gratitude to God for a life so beautifully lived and deeply impactful, we officially announce the funeral arrangements of our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the family wrote.
According to the statement, the actor will first be honoured with an “all white” Service of Songs on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

His wake keep will later take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the family residence located at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, before his interment takes place at the family compound later that day.
Still keeping the drew code for the occasions strictly “white,” the statement added that a reception will follow immediately after the burial ceremony.
Reflecting on the actor’s life, the family described him as someone remembered for his generosity, deep faith and cheerful personality.
“Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished,” the statement read.
While urging for prayers for the late actor’s widow, they also thanked supporters for the overwhelming show of love during the difficult period, saying the messages, visits, calls and prayers have brought comfort to the grieving family.
