ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says he is still awaiting approval from the Federal Government to commence operations of his proposed security outfit, the “Iru Ekun Security Network,” aimed at flushing out criminal elements from forests in the South-West.
Igboho disclosed this on Monday in a statement issued in Ibadan, Oyo State, adding that all necessary documents required for the registration and approval of the outfit had already been submitted to the Federal Government.
He explained that the initiative was designed to support ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity, particularly in rural communities across the South-West region.
According to him, the security network, once approved, would work in collaboration with existing security agencies to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.
“We have submitted all the required documents for our registered security firm, ‘Iru Ekun Security Network’, and are only waiting for the Federal Government’s approval, which will be granted soon,” Igboho said.

He added that the outfit is prepared to cooperate fully with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to restore peace and security in affected areas.
Igboho also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as efforts aimed at strengthening the country’s security architecture.
He said the current administration had shown commitment to addressing insecurity across different regions of the country, particularly in rural communities affected by violent crimes.
“It is obvious that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is resolutely committed to tackling criminalities not only in the South-West but also in all other regions plagued by insecurity,” he said.
The activist also expressed readiness to comply with a recent Executive Order issued by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, which regulates the operations of private security organisations in the state.
Makinde had signed Executive Order 001 of 2026 on May 20 to provide a legal framework for vigilantes and other community-based security groups operating within the state.
Igboho said his outfit would fully align with the directive, stressing the importance of proper coordination and regulation of security-related activities.
He further noted that improved security was essential for socioeconomic development, especially in rural areas that serve as the backbone of agricultural production and food supply.
