ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Tinubu on Saturday recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Zamfara State after polling 321,579 votes to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu defeated his challenger, Stanley Osifor, who garnered only 42 votes in the exercise conducted across the 14 local government areas of the state.
Announcing the results in Gusau, the Chief Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary in Zamfara, Governor Dauda Lawal, said the President secured an overwhelming majority of the votes cast during the election.
According to him, the total number of registered APC members in the state stood at 365,796, while 322,435 members were accredited to participate in the exercise.
Lawal said a total of 321,620 votes were cast during the primary election.
“According to the results presented, Tinubu secured an overwhelming majority of the votes, polling a total of 321,579 votes, while his opponent, Stanley Osifor, scored 42 votes,” he declared.

The returning officer noted that the breakdown of results from all the local government areas showed that Tinubu enjoyed massive support across the state, defeating his opponent convincingly in every council.
“Based on the results collated and presented, I hereby declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the APC presidential primary election in Zamfara State,” Lawal added.
He further disclosed that the results would be transmitted to the APC national headquarters in Abuja for further necessary action.
Lawal also commended party supporters for their turnout during the exercise and pledged to formally deliver the results to the APC national secretariat.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the exercise, led by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Mahmud Isah.
Senators Ikra Aliyu-Bilbis and Sahabi Ya’u, representing Zamfara Central and Zamfara North respectively, served as returning officers and presented results from their zones to the chief returning officer.
Results from Zamfara West Senatorial District were submitted by local government chairmen within the zone.
