ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Enugu governorship candidate, Ray Kene Ogbodo, has officially declared his intention to contest the Enugu State governorship election in 2027 on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ogbodo made the declaration while addressing supporters, saying the people of Enugu deserve a more purposeful and people-oriented government that would address hardship and improve living conditions.
The UK-based strategy, management and leadership expert said his ambition was driven by a desire to reposition governance in the state and tackle poverty, insecurity, and underdevelopment.
According to him, his new bid comes with renewed energy, fresh ideas, and a commitment to accountable leadership.
āThere is no passion for playing small when you can play big to give our people what rightfully belongs to them, especially when innocent people are suffering, languishing, and living hopelessly,ā he said.

Ogbodo said his administration, if elected, would prioritise ethical leadership, economic empowerment, youth development, security, quality education, and inclusive governance.
He stressed that Enugu State needed a government that listens to the people and creates opportunities for growth and development across all sectors.
āI am a person with great knowledge of our state. I have once again come with new ideas, fresh energy, and a genuine commitment to serve our people with compassion, integrity, accountability, and transparency,ā he stated.
He added that his mission was not personal ambition but a collective effort to restore confidence in leadership and improve the welfare of citizens.
āThis mission is not about me; it is about ours. It is about building a better future, restoring confidence in leadership, and delivering real results that will positively impact our lives,ā Ogbodo said.
The governorship hopeful called on residents of the state to support his aspiration, saying collective effort was needed to achieve meaningful development.
He further pledged to promote youth and women participation in governance, strengthen community development, and expand opportunities for economic empowerment.
Ogbodo also appealed for prayers and collaboration, insisting that Enugu must be rescued from what he described as poor governance and leadership failures.
āNdi Enugu deserve better,ā he declared.
