LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, is set to chair the Nigeria Private Security Conference (NPSC) 2026, a major national gathering focused on strengthening collaboration between public security institutions and private sector operators.
According to organizers, the event is set to hold on June 13 in Abuja, bringing together government officials, security agencies, private security firms, investors, and international participants to discuss the future of Nigeria’s security structure.
In a letter dated May 20 and signed by Group Captain MK Nanle on behalf of the minister, Christopher Musa described the initiative as an important platform for national cooperation.
The conference themed, “Building a modern security ecosystem: Integrating private sector capacity into Nigeria’s national security architecture,” will focus on improving coordination between state institutions and private security stakeholders.
Musa announced that the conference would serve as a structured space for engagement between government bodies, defence institutions, intelligence agencies, private companies, and technology experts.
The Defence Minister also confirmed through the letter his acceptance to chair the event and assured organizers of the ministry’s full support to ensure its success.
The conference convener Charles Awuzie, welcomed the minister’s endorsement, describing it as a strong signal of government commitment to security reform.
Awuzie explained that the conference would attract top decision-makers, including state governors and senior security officials, to shape policies and partnerships aimed at improving national safety.
He added that the event would also feature exhibitions designed to connect participants with business opportunities within the growing security industry.
He maintained that the goal is to encourage community-based security models supported by modern technology and regulation, while also driving job creation and sector-wide reforms.
Awuzie stressed that the NPSC will focus on practical solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges through collaboration between public institutions and private players.
