ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election in Rivers State.
Chinda became the party’s sole candidate after three other aspirants reportedly withdrew from the race ahead of the primary.
The withdrawn aspirants were said to include Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Tonye Cole, and Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly, leaving Chinda unopposed in the contest held on Wednesday night.
The Chairman of the APC governorship primary election in the state, Kwamoti Bitrus, announced that Chinda polled a total of 268,497 votes as a sole candidate.
Bitrus commended party members for their massive participation, as well as election agents for what he described as their dedication and orderly conduct during the process.
He also appreciated the state leadership of the party for providing what he called a conducive environment for the smooth conduct of the primary.

According to him, the emergence of Chinda signals unity within the party and a renewed commitment to delivering development in Rivers State.
He added that the candidacy reflects what he described as a restructured and reorganised APC in the state, capable of competing strongly in the coming elections.
