LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has revealed why he allegedly rejected a lucrative record deal from Mavin Records.
The rapper shared the revelation in a post on his official X account, where he claimed the label tried to sign him with a deal worth $1 million.
The “Chanel” hitmaker stated that his dislike for constant social media activity played a major role in his decision.
Blaqbonez explained that he was too “big” for the social media lifestyle, saying it did not align with his personality because he preferred to remain enigmatic.
The rapper maintained that constantly interacting with fans on social media, a major requirement for artists under top music labels was just not his style.

“Need to get this off my chest before chanel drops, the reason I didn’t sign to mavin when they were begging me with a million dollars is cos i don’t really like posting, I prefer 1 tweet per year than engaging my fans, I’m too big for that, I’m mysterious,” he said.
His statement comes shortly after Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, spoke about the importance of social media presence for upcoming artists.
During a recent interview, Don Jazzy maintained that he would not sign musicians who are unwilling to promote themselves online.
He explained that while established stars like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake can afford to stay less active online because of their fame, emerging artists do not have that luxury.
“I will never sign you if you don’t like to post. I’m tired of seeing artistes with just 3 posts on Instagram calling it aesthetic. Stop trying to copy Wizkid, Burna Boy and Asake,” Don Jazzy said.
