ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has secured the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

The senator emerged as the party’s candidate after thousands of PDP members and supporters across the 57 wards in the district participated in a simultaneous affirmation exercise held on Wednesday.

The exercise ended at Kahal Cinema, Okene, where party leaders, stakeholders and supporters gathered for the final collation of results.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and journalists monitored the exercise at both ward and collation levels to ensure that the process complied with electoral guidelines.

Addressing party members after the collation of results, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed appreciation for what she described as the overwhelming confidence and unity shown by party faithful across the district.

ā€œThis affirmation is a reflection of the trust and confidence the people of Kogi Central have continued to place in our collective vision for progress, inclusion and development,ā€ she said.

The lawmaker noted that the large turnout recorded across the district demonstrated the determination of party members to deepen democratic participation and strengthen unity within Kogi Central.

According to her, the exercise went beyond politics and represented a collective commitment to building a stronger and more united senatorial district.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also pledged to continue defending the interests of the people while maintaining close engagement with communities across the zone.

Supporters at the collation centre described the exercise as a strong display of unity and confidence in the PDP’s leadership and chances ahead of the 2027 elections in Kogi Central.
