LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The 2026 edition of the BET Awards will shine a spotlight on African talent, with several Nigerian superstars earning recognition across major music categories.
Organizers unveiled the nomination list on Tuesday ahead of the award ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on June 28.
The event will be hosted by comedian Druski and broadcast live on BET.
Proving the growing global influence of Afrobeats on the international music scene, Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake, and Tems secured top nominations.
Afrobeats stars Asake and Wizkid received a joint nomination in the Best Group category following their successful collaborations and chart-dominating releases.

Meanwhile, Tems emerged as one of Africa’s strongest contenders at the awards after earning three nominations.
The Grammy-winning singer was nominated in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category. She also secured a nomination for the BET Her Award with her song ‘First’.
In addition, Tems picked up a nomination in the Viewers’ Choice Award category for ‘Raindance’, her collaboration with British rapper Dave.
Afrobeats heavyweight Burna Boy also earned recognition in the Best Collaboration category for his feature on Gunna’s hit track ‘WGFT’.
Over the years, the BET Awards has remained one of the most respected international award platforms celebrating Black culture, music, entertainment, and creative excellence.
Notably, this year’s nominations once again highlight the growing impact of Nigerian artistes on the global stage.
