LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has reached a new global milestone, becoming the first African artist to surpass 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits, a record that strengthens his position as one of the most streamed musicians in the world.

The new benchmark in global music history was announced on X by music chart platform ChartsAfrica, which celebrated the singer’s continued dominance both on stage and across music streaming platforms.

The platform praised the “Essence” hitmaker as a global superstar whose influence now extends far beyond the Nigerian border, into every corner of Africa.

Beyond this latest historic Spotify milestone, Wizkid has continued to break records across the platform, setting new benchmarks for other artists.

In its announcement, ChartsAfrica stated, “First African artist to reach each milestone in Spotify history. Wizkid becomes the first African artiste ever to cross 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits.”

This achievement adds to a growing list of streaming records linked to Wizkid, who has consistently broken new ground for African music on international platforms.

The record also comes just days after the release of his collaboration with DJ Tunez titled State of Mind, which dropped on May 15.

The track reportedly recorded over 685,000 global Spotify streams within its first 24 hours, signaling strong audience reception.

Also, Wizkid’s collaboration with Asake, titled Iskolodo, has returned to the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart, re-entering at number 50.

The song previously peaked at number 7 and has now spent 15 weeks on the chart, showing long-term chart performance.

Further reinforcing his commercial success, Turntable Charts reported that Wizkid ranked as the most played artist on Nigerian radio in Q1 2026, with an estimated 4.21 billion impressions.

With each milestone, Wizkid continues to expand his global footprint, setting new standards for Afrobeats while maintaining consistent streaming dominance across platforms.
