ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Popular socialite and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu still does not fully trust him because of his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, made the disclosure during a livestream session with popular streamer Peller, where he spoke about politics, loyalty and his relationship with the current administration.
The celebrity businessman, who currently serves as Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, said the presidency still views him with suspicion because of his ethnic background and past political alignment.
According to him, President Tinubu sees him “with one eye” because he actively worked for Peter Obi during the last election.
Explaining why he later switched allegiance to Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cubana Chief Priest said he no longer wanted to remain on the losing side politically.

He argued that politics should be approached pragmatically, adding that repeating the same political mistakes would amount to foolishness.
The socialite also dismissed Obi’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that only “serious people” would emerge victorious in the contest.
His comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with critics accusing him of political opportunism and abandoning the Igbo political cause, while supporters described his position as a realistic reflection of Nigeria’s political environment.
Cubana Chief Priest was one of the high-profile entertainers who openly backed Peter Obi and the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 elections before later aligning himself with the ruling APC.
He recently obtained an APC nomination form to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives but withdrew from the race shortly before the primary election.
