ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Kano State Government has said former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, may struggle to gain significant political support in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Director General of Media and Publicity at the Kano State Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated this on Wednesday while speaking on national political developments.
According to him, Kano remains politically conservative, with voter behaviour largely influenced by long-standing ideological, regional and political structures.
He argued that such factors could make it difficult for politicians whose support base is rooted in other parts of the country to gain acceptance in the state.

āPeter Obi may not find it easy to gain ground in Kano politics because the political environment here is shaped by deep-rooted beliefs and long-established political structures,ā Bature said.
He added that conversations surrounding the 2027 presidential election had already begun creating varying political narratives across Nigeria, especially regarding how different presidential hopefuls may perform across regions.
Bature further maintained that political acceptance in Kano is determined more by loyalty, ideology and regional alignment than popularity alone.
The remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and increased consultations by opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election.
