LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has opened up about his relationship with President Bola Tinubu, claiming the president still does not fully trust him because of his Igbo background and former support for Peter Obi.
During a livestream session with streamer Peller, the celebrity barman claimed that the president still has doubts about him because he is Igbo and once campaigned for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election.
Cubana CP revealed that some people within political circles believe he could eventually betray the president’s trust.
“Tinubu still doesn’t fully trust me because I’m an Igbo man and I once worked for Peter Obi, so they feel I could betray him too,” he said.
He also explained why he stopped supporting Obi after the last election.
He stated that he no longer wanted to remain on the losing side politically, insisting that Obi was not prepared to win future elections.
“I left Peter Obi because I didn’t want to keep losing. Peter Obi is not ready and I don’t see him winning the next election,” Cubana CP added.
Furthermore, Cubana Chief Priest explained during the livestream that he strongly believes President Bola Tinubu will defeat Obi again if both politicians contest in the 2027 general election.

Cubana CP recently attempted to secure the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State but lost during the party primaries.
Despite the setback, he has remained active within the ruling party.
He currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, a political support group created by Seyi Tinubu to mobilize support for the president ahead of 2027.
Explaining his decision to align with Tinubu, the socialite said he did not want to “lose for a second time” by remaining loyal to Obi.
“I worked for Peter Obi in 2023 but I had to abandon him because I know he cannot beat Tinubu,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the businessman recently showed off a new car on Instagram, claiming it was gifted to him by one of his political “chairmen” after his primary election defeat.
He also suggested that the ruling All Progressives Congress has continued to support and reward him despite the loss.
“To the people insulting me… APC is pampering me, and the party is working in my favour. One of my chairmen bought me a brand new car for losing the election, and it will be delivered to me tomorrow,” Cubana Chief Priest shared.
