ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigeria Police Force in Enugu State has arrested two suspected members of an interstate kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate allegedly operating along border communities between Enugu and Benue states.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain its crackdown on violent crimes, following the operation carried out by operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
According to the statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects, identified as Mohammed Hassan, 28, and Aminu Usman, 26, both from Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, were arrested on May 14, 2026, at Amutenyi, Obollo-Afor in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to the police, exhibits recovered from the suspects include one Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm live ammunition, three suspected snatched motorcycles, one mobile phone, suspected charms, an ATM card, a bunch of keys, and cash amounting to N4,700.

Preliminary investigations, police said, revealed that the suspects belong to an interstate kidnapping and armed robbery gang allegedly involved in motorcycle snatching and abduction activities along communities bordering Enugu and Benue states.
The Command disclosed that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate, while the suspects would be arraigned after the conclusion of investigations.
CP Giwa commended the police operatives and members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group for the successful operation, stressing that the Command would not relent in tackling criminality across the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
