LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Kano entertainment industry has been thrown into fresh controversy after the State’s Censorship Board announced a one-year movie suspension for two popular Kannywood actors, Amina Uba-Hassan and Adam Garba.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani-Sulaiman, the suspension from all movie productions in Kano followed the circulation of an alleged immoral video involving the actors.
The board explained that the content violated censorship regulations guiding film productions in Kano State.

Officials also claimed the video had sparked tension across several communities within the state.
“The board has legal authority to suspend any actor or actress found violating censorship laws in Kano State. And any breach of the suspension order could attract court sanctions,” the statement warned.
Furthermore, the Executive Secretary of the board, Abba El-Mustapha, called on Kannywood stakeholders to protect the image of the Hausa movie industry by avoiding actions capable of damaging its reputation.
He also advised directors, producers, and other industry professionals to strictly obey the suspension directive.
The board explicitly stated that anyone who works with the suspended actors during the ban period risks facing legal sanctions.
The temporary ban has already triggered conversations among Kannywood fans online, with many debating the board’s strict approach to regulating entertainment content in Kano State.
