ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC), ticket for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State after recording a landslide victory in the party’s House of Representatives primary election.
The APC primary, conducted on Saturday across Sandamu, Daura and Mai’adua local government areas, saw Yusuf Buhari poll 6,386 votes to defeat his challenger, Auwal Daura, who garnered 322 votes.
Party officials described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and orderly, with delegates voting across the three councils without major incidents.
Speaking after the exercise, a supervising official identified as Ibrahim said the outcome reflected the decision of party delegates in the constituency.

According to him, the margin of victory also highlighted the political goodwill and enduring influence associated with the Buhari family name in Katsina State.
“Yusuf Buhari’s overwhelming victory reflects the enduring political influence and goodwill associated with the Buhari name in the constituency and across the state,” he stated.
Statistics released after the exercise showed that the federal constituency has 21,855 registered voters, while 6,837 delegates were accredited for the primary election. Out of the figure, 6,708 votes were eventually cast.
Following the victory, Yusuf Buhari is expected to emerge as the APC candidate for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua federal constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
