ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-A former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has defeated the incumbent lawmaker, Ngozi Okolie, in the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary for the Oshimili South Federal Constituency in Delta State.
The primary election, conducted across wards in Asaba, was reportedly peaceful and witnessed a significant turnout of accredited party members.
Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise in Wards 5, 9, and 11, observed orderly voting and consistent participation by APC members throughout the process. Voting was limited to accredited card-carrying members of the party.
In Ward 11, party officials disclosed that Elumelu secured more than 1,000 votes, while Okolie reportedly did not record any vote in the ward.

The Returning Officer, Kingsley Oniawa, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent.
“There was no issue. The process was peaceful and calm. I counted the votes accordingly and the outcome was peaceful,” he said.
In Ward 9, officials announced that Elumelu polled over 1,800 votes at the collation centre.
The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Sunday Obi, said the turnout demonstrated effective mobilisation by party stakeholders.
“They all turned out. They were duly informed and the voters came out in their numbers.
From the turn of events today, card-carrying members came out to vote,” he stated.
APC Ward 9 Chairman, Ngoziame Baze, also praised the conduct of the exercise, noting that electoral guidelines were strictly adhered to.
“The turnout was good. The election went well and there was no problem. INEC officials were all here and everything went smoothly. There was no clash and no challenge of any kind,” Baze said.
Party stakeholders attributed Elumelu’s victory to his grassroots influence and strong mobilisation across the constituency.
