ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The All Progressives Congress has rescheduled the dates for its National Assembly primary elections in Zamfara State.
The party announced the change in a statement released on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the statement, “the House of Representatives primary election will now hold on Monday, May 18, 2026, while the Senate primary has been fixed for Tuesday, May 19, 2026.”
The APC also confirmed that the state House of Assembly primary election will still take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, while the governorship primary is slated for Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The party further stated that the presidential primary election remains scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2026.
The statement equally provided details of the appeal timetable for the primaries in the state.
Under the schedule, appeals from the House of Representatives primary will be heard on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, while appeals from the Senate primary are fixed for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Appeals relating to the House of Assembly primary will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, while governorship primary appeals are scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026.
The APC, however, did not give any reason for the rescheduling.
It will be recalled that the party’s national leadership had on Thursday shifted its House of Representatives primary elections by one day, moving them from Friday, May 15, to Saturday, May 16, 2026, while retaining the earlier dates for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidential primaries.
On Friday, the APC explained that the adjustment was made for logistical reasons.
Ahead of the primaries, tensions had risen in several states, prompting party leaders and major stakeholders aligned with President Bola Tinubu to step up consultations aimed at averting a major internal crisis.
The unrest reportedly led to protests, failed consensus arrangements, allegations of candidate imposition, and reconciliation moves in different states.
According to the revised timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, political parties are expected to complete all primaries and settle related disputes between April 23 and May 30, 2026, ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections slated for January 16, 2027, and the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections scheduled for February 6, 2027.
