Married Woman Among Six Nabbed In Hotel Raid By Kebbi Hisbah

ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Not less than six persons have been arrested by the officials of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board, during a raid on a hotel in Birnin Kebbi over alleged immoral conduct. The official s also arrested a married woman.

The suspects, made up of three men and three women, were apprehended during an operation carried out by officers of the board, an agency under the state Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Confirming the development in a statement issued on Friday, the Director of Shariah at the board, Sirajo Kamba, said the operation followed intelligence reports received from members of the public.

According to him, the raid took place on May 14 at a hotel located behind the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.

“On May 14, the Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel located behind the Presidential Lodge, where three men and three women were found engaging in immoral acts,” Kamba stated.

“Following reports from members of the public, Hisbah officials stormed the location and arrested the individuals involved.”

He disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that one of the women arrested was married.

“Investigations are ongoing, and necessary action will be taken in accordance with the law and the board’s regulations,” he added.

Kamba said the incident highlighted the need for stronger moral values and greater fear of God within society.

He also urged parents to pay closer attention to the movements and activities of their children in order to discourage behaviour capable of undermining societal values and dignity.
