ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a businessman, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, by armed men who attacked his residence in Irawo community, Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident, which has heightened fresh concerns over rising insecurity in parts of the state, reportedly occurred late Monday night when gunmen stormed the businessmanās home and whisked him away at gunpoint.
Police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday that the attack was reported at the Tede Police Division at about 10:20pm.
According to him, the attackers also left behind another tragedy during the operation after a 10-year-old girl sustained gunshot injuries amid the chaos.
The child was immediately rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment, where medical personnel reportedly worked to extract pellets from her body.

āHowever, the girl was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention and extraction of pellets,ā the police statement said.
The latest incident adds to growing security concerns in several communities across the state where residents have repeatedly complained about kidnappings, armed attacks and violent crimes.
Olayinka said detectives from the command had since visited the scene as investigations intensified into the abduction.
He disclosed that security operatives recovered three expended ammunition shells and three face caps believed to have been left behind by the attackers.
According to him, the items recovered from the scene were already undergoing forensic examination as part of efforts to track the suspects.
The police spokesperson further stated that tactical teams and intelligence units had been mobilised to secure the release of the abducted businessman and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
āTactical and intelligence-driven efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators,ā he added.
