ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has shared a video showing his brief encounter with former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The video, which surfaced online on Sunday, captured the moment Omokri approached Obi near a seating area inside the airport before exchanging handshakes and pleasantries with him.
Omokri, who is known as a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu and a frequent critic of Obi on social media, posted the 35-second clip on his X handle.
In the footage, Omokri, dressed in a green traditional outfit and matching cap, called out, “Mr Obi!” before moving closer to greet the former presidential candidate.
The two men exchanged a handshake and briefly spoke while Omokri placed his hand on Obi’s arm during the interaction.

Obi was later seen walking toward the departure section of the airport with his luggage as the video ended.
Sharing the clip online, Omokri wrote, “Peter Obi and I exchanging warm greetings today at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in anticipation of President Tinubu’s reelection next year!”
The encounter quickly generated reactions across social media platforms, with many users commenting on the contrast between Omokri’s regular online criticism of Obi and their friendly interaction in public.
Some critics also accused Omokri of seeking attention, alleging that the meeting appeared staged because a cameraman was already positioned to record the moment.
Others, however, described the encounter as proof that political disagreements do not always translate into personal hostility.
The development comes amid heightened political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
