ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Federal Ministry of Works has announced a partial closure of sections of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road beginning Monday to enable the completion of ongoing reconstruction works.

The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Olayiwola Komolafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

He explained that the closure was in line with a directive from the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, instructing the contractor, Messrs Arab Contractors, to return to site on critical sections of the highway for speedy completion of the project.

According to Komolafe, the affected portions include the stretch from Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction in Lagos, as well as the section from Cement to Coca-Cola inward Sagamu.

He added that vehicles travelling from Ikorodu to Sagamu would be diverted through the construction zones under a counterflow arrangement.

Komolafe stated that the exercise would last three months to allow for construction activities and curing of the rigid pavement.

He also noted that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be stationed along the route to control traffic during the period.

The controller appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and law enforcement agents.

Komolafe added that the ministry regretted any inconvenience the reconstruction work might cause road users.
