ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has dismissed Presidential Adviser on Media Daniel Bwala as unworthy of engagement, saying no “right thinking Nigerian” would waste time debating him.
Yesufu made the remarks on during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme while reacting to recent comments by Bwala directed at opposition figures.
The co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement said she had no intention of responding to Bwala personally, insisting that Al Jazeera journalist Mehdi Hasan had already done enough during a previous interview with the presidential aide.
“First of all, there’s no right thinking Nigerian that is going to waste their energy on discussing Daniel Bwala.
“I’m really not going to focus on that. I heard when he was calling my name. I think I will leave him with Mehdi Hasan. That’s someone that knows how to deal with people like Daniel Bwala,” she said.
Yesufu’s remarks referenced Bwala’s appearance on Al Jazeera’s Head to Head programme aired on March 6, 2026, where Hasan confronted him with past video clips in which he criticised President Bola Tinubu before later joining his administration to defend the Renewed Hope agenda.

The activist also defended former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who had come under criticism from Bwala.
According to her, remaining in opposition should not be viewed as political weakness, noting that Tinubu himself spent years in opposition politics before eventually becoming president in 2023.
“Even the Mr. Tinubu that he talked about, he has been in opposition. When I remember there’s a particular piece they’re very fond of bringing out when I said he’s the father of opposition.
“And yeah, I mean that because he stayed in opposition until he was able to get into office,” she said.
Yesufu, however, acknowledged that Tinubu moved across different political platforms over the years, beginning from the Alliance for Democracy to the Action Congress of Nigeria before becoming part of the coalition that formed the APC.
She maintained that her attention remained focused on governance and national development rather than exchanges with government spokespersons.
“My focus really is on the question that is going to move Nigeria forward.
“I’m not going to waste my time discussing anything that Daniel Bwala says. Nobody thinks Daniel Bwala is serious,” she added.
