LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy has reached another global milestone after teaming up with Latin pop superstar Shakira for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup titled “Dai Dai.”
The Afrobeats sensation collaborated with Colombian music icon Shakira on the tournament’s official song, “Dai Dai,” which will be released on Thursday, May 14.
The achievement also makes Burna Boy the second Nigerian artist to feature on a FIFA World Cup official song in consecutive tournaments.
In 2022, Davido appeared on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” alongside Aisha and Trinidad Cardona for the Qatar World Cup.

Excitement has continued to grow online following the release of clips from the “Dai Dai” music video.
The one minute-seven seconds video shows Shakira performing inside the famous Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro while dancing with her backup crew.

Shakira also confirmed the collaboration on social media while promoting the upcoming release.
“From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! ⚽️🐺 @burnaboy,” she wrote.
Earlier, the global pop star praised Burna Boy during an interview with Rolling Stone, describing him as a “great” artist and admitting she loves his music.

Fans have also pointed to her previous videos vibing to Burna Boy’s songs, fueling expectations of strong chemistry between both stars ahead of the World Cup live performance.
Shakira’s involvement in FIFA World Cup music performances goes back nearly two decades.
She first appeared during the 2006 tournament in Germany, where she performed “Hips Don’t Lie” at the closing ceremony.

Four years later, she delivered one of the competition’s most memorable anthems, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
She later returned in Brazil 2014 with “La La La (Brazil 2014)” before unveiling “Dai Dai” for the 2026 edition featuring Burna Boy.
Football lovers across the globe anticipate the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The tournament is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, with millions of football fans expected to follow the event across the world.
