LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Big Brother Naija star and Nollywood actress Bisola Aiyeola has shared the painful story of losing the father of her daughter, Layla, revealing the final moments before his death in 2018.
Speaking during an appearance on the Dear Ife series hosted by Ife Agoro, the actress recalled the “heartbreaking experience” that changed her family’s life in August 2018.
Bisola revealed that Layla was only eight years old when her father passed away after battling an unnamed illness.
She explained that he had been admitted to the hospital, but things initially appeared to be improving.
The actress said she, alongside her mother and sister, visited him during his treatment, while doctors confirmed he was recovering and gave a discharge date.
She also revealed that they spoke on the phone shortly before his death, and he sounded healthy and hopeful.

However, events took a painful turn days later when she received the devastating phone call from a close associate who called her with his phone.
The actress recalled that the most painful moment was visiting him on Friday, only for him to pass away on Sunday.
In her words, “It was a heartbreaking experience. He died in August 2018. He was sick and had been on admission in the hospital. My mother and sister went to visit him on a Sunday, and he died on Friday. We had even spoken over the phone, and he was sounding better and said he would be discharged on Friday. Someone later called me on his phone from the hospital and said he was no more.”
Bisola further shared that one of the hardest moments for her was informing their daughter about the tragic loss. She described the conversation as deeply painful for the entire family.
Speaking about his life, the actress noted that Layla’s father was actively involved in his daughter’s life and regularly checked on her.
She admitted that she still carries regret over repeatedly postponing something important she intended to do for him before his passing.
Although Bisola has largely kept details about him private over the years, she previously mentioned him during her emotional speech at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where she received the Trailblazer Award.
During the ceremony, she expressed sadness that he was not alive to witness her fulfilling her dreams and achieving milestones in Nollywood.
