LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Popular Nollywood star Zubby Michael has opened up on why he chose discipline over romance in his early years in the film industry.
He revealed how the decision helped in the rise in his career.
In a recent interview on Broadway TV, the actor said he was focused on building his future and did not want anything to distract him.
Zubby Michael noted that his days in Asaba as an upcoming actor were filled with hard work and uncertainty.
He explained that he chose to put all his energy into acting as relationships were filled with emotional pressure which might affect his productivity on set.

He added that his decision had nothing to do with how he views women. Instead, he described romantic affairs as a matter of timing and self-control.
In his words, “I’ve been scared of women, I’ve been working hard but now I want to give it a chance. Since I dey work I no…- cause it can destroy this thing. Maybe had it been I get girlfriend I fit no reach here. Cause if you disturb me mentally it will affect my work. As I dey put all my mind for film, if woman come now and we come get problem, I fit dey set I go dey think about am, e go dey affect me.”
Now that he has achieved a level of comfort and stability, including owning a home, the actor said he is ready to explore love.
In his view, life happens in times and seasons, urging people to understand the complexities of the stage they are in before making major commitments.
The actor also shared advice for young men, encouraging them to focus on personal growth before entering serious relationships.
“So as a young man… But there’s time for everything. Conquer the first stage of your life. See now I don get my house. Now I can say okay let’s see how it goes. No be that time wey I dey Asaba dey work hard. I go come claim say I love you… There’s time for everything. Na now we wan love,” Zubby Michael stated.
