LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, accusing the administration of worsening hardship and failed economic policies.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, the outspoken singer openly attacked the President, questioning his performance since taking office in 2023.
Speed Darlington blamed the current administration for Nigeria’s economic struggles, the surge in living costs, ongoing insecurity, and what he described as failed government policies.
He declared the President unfit to rerun, saying, “You are here breaking your neck to become the next President of Nigeria but you are not qualified to be President again.”

The “Cash and Carry” hitmaker particularly criticized the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that the decision triggered massive increases in the prices of goods across the country.
He maintained that if the President is re-elected, life in the country will become “hell fire.”
“From your first round, we know your second round is going to be hell fire. You entered office, the first thing you did is to remove subsidy, knowing very well that every thing about Nigerian life is attached to petroleum,” Darlington said.
During the lengthy rant, Darlington noted that Nigerians were already struggling before the subsidy removal policy was introduced, a decision that gave business owners an excuse to increase prices even further.

He continued by expressing frustration over the rising cost of living affecting different ethnic groups across the country.
The singer described Nigerians as “greedy,” arguing that the administration’s policies gave them an unfair advantage to inflate prices.
“My fellow Igbo people and Hausas and Yorubas and other tribes in-between, they pray, begging God to give them excuse to raise price and then you gave them reason, 1000% reason to raise price. Nigerians that are naturally greedy,” he added.
Furthermore, the singer questioned Tinubu’s qualifications for another term in office while also accusing the government of failing to tackle insecurity.
“Just tell me, what qualifies you to be President for a second term? You are not qualified to be President again. You do not know the job. You have not done anything about insecurity in Nigeria,” Darlington stated.
