LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he is taking a temporary break from music as he plans to return to school next year to pursue a Master’s degree in Political Science in the United Kingdom.
The music star made the announcement during a livestream session with Davrel, where he spoke openly about his education plans and current career direction.
“I want to do my Master’s next year,” Davido announced.
The “Unavailable” hitmaker revealed that the postgraduate programme will not be at his family owned higher institution, Adeleke University.

Instead, he mentioned his intention to enroll in a UK university for a one-year Political Science course to upgrade his Bachelor Degree.
“No, in UK, a one-year course in Political science. I have my BSc already,” Davido explained.
Fans have suggested that his current role as Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, along with his growing influence in the campaign and reelection efforts of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, may have influenced his choice of study.
Many also hinted at a future career in Nigerian politics.

Meanwhile, the Afrobeats star also addressed growing questions from fans demanding new music.
The “OBO” crooner stressed that he is taking a break and does not feel pressured to constantly drop new projects to remain relevant in the entertainment industry.
Davido maintained that his existing catalogue is still dominating nightlife playlists and streaming spaces.
“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break. Like I said if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So I am on a musical break,” he noted.
