LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shifted focus from music to politics after launching a 43-member youth mobilization committee for the re-election bid of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Ahead of the August 15 governorship election, Davido made his announcement on Tuesday during a brief gathering in Ede, while also revealing a two-month break from music to support the campaign effort.
The newly formed structure, known as the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilization Team, is designed to strengthen voter outreach across Osun State.
Davido leads the committee, which includes coordinators assigned to all three senatorial districts, nine federal constituencies, 30 local government areas, and the Modakeke Area Office.
The campaign team has Adeshina Kayode Olododo as Vice Chairman with Gbenga Idowu serving as Secretary, alongside other grassroots coordinators spread across key political zones.
Speaking at the unveiling, Davido stressed that his involvement goes beyond family ties, highlighting his belief in the governorās performance in office.

āI have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle. Not only because he is my uncle, but because he is doing a good job, and he has major things to doāthe job is not done. We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it has to do with youth,ā Davido said.
Davido who also serves as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, urged young campaigners to take the message directly to communities with a focus on the governorās achievements and continued vision for the state.
āLetās do door-to-door mobilization across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has done and what he plans to do. Letās engage people in our communities and connect them with the governorās work,ā he urged.
Notably, Osun State voters are expected to choose their next governor in a tightly contested race involving three major political figures.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, running for re-election on the Accord Party platform, will face strong opposition from Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress as well as Dr Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress.
