ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party is on course to return to power, expressing strong confidence that the party will produce Nigeria’s next president in 2027.
Makinde made the assertion in Abuja on Monday while addressing party stakeholders at the 103rd National Executive Committee meeting of a PDP faction, urging members to remain united as preparations for the next election cycle intensify.
According to him, the gathering marked a turning point for the party, insisting that the PDP is positioning itself to win across all levels of government.
Projecting optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, the governor said the PDP would not only compete but dominate in the upcoming elections.
He maintained that the current mobilisation efforts would translate into victories in legislative and executive positions nationwide.

“We should write it down. This gathering will produce House of Assembly members, House of Representatives members, Senators, Governors, and the next President,” he stated.
At the meeting, party leaders also moved to stabilise internal structures by approving a 13-member caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the faction.
The committee is headed by Tanimu Turaki as chairman, with Taofeek Arapaja serving as National Secretary.
The resolution followed a motion presented by Tony Aziegbemi and seconded by Clement Fagboyede.
Other members include Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.
The developments come as the PDP continues to grapple with internal divisions and realignments, with party leaders engaging in consultations aimed at repositioning the platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Analysts say the formation of the caretaker committee signals an attempt to consolidate authority within the faction and create a more cohesive structure moving forward.
For Makinde and his allies, the message is clear: unity and organisation will be critical if the PDP hopes to reclaim power at the national level.
