LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian singer Portable has accused organizers of rigging the outcome of his Lagos celebrity boxing fight against streamer Carter Efe, claiming the result was manipulated to avoid a N23 billion betting payout.
Carter Efe defeated Portable in a celebrity boxing match held in Lagos on Friday, May 1, walking away with a N50 million prize after judges scored the bout in his favour.
Following the fight, Portable became the subject of online mockery from celebrities and fans, many of whom criticized his earlier bold predictions that he would win easily.
In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday afternoon, Portable rejected the criticism, insisting the match result was not genuine.
He declared himself as a trendsetter who generates buzz and draws followers with everything he does.

“Na zazu, anywhere I follow is where una go follow. I’m the king while you guys are the chiefs. Everybody go dey follow my way… Aside from being a celebrity or a musician, can’t you invent something new? Portable asked.
The “Zazu” crooner claimed he pioneered celebrity boxing in Nigeria, revealing he received N40 million before the fight with an additional N10 million due after the match.
He also disclosed that he was paid to promote the match online, insisting he did not suffer any loss.
Portable, however, cried foul, alleging that Carter Efe threw illegal punches and accused the referee of bias during the bout.
“My fans, I was paid N40 million before the fight and was also paid N1 million each per post to promote the match five times… Carter Efe was throwing fowl blow on me, the referee was not fair to me,” he said.
Alleging that the match was rigged by organizers to avoid a massive betting liability, Portable stated, “Even if I win the match, na 17 million in dollars be the money wey everybody wey do betting for my victory go collect. That’s 23 billion in naira, who go pay am, can organizers pay?

Portable also claimed the fight was not organized by music producer Soso Soberekon, as widely believed, but by a man identified as Mr Ezekiel, who allegedly paid him N40 million upfront.
The street-hop singer described himself as the face of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, insisting he has contributed to its popularity. He further maintained that he remains confident in himself, citing his previous victories over Speed Darlington and Charles Okocha in 2025.
Portable also insisted that the outcome of the Carter Efe fight was influenced by external interests due to heavy betting activity on his victory.
“Carter Efe’s victory was intentional. How many people bet on Carter? Most of the people bet on me. They believe in me and I believe in myself and in God. Na me be first musician wey bring boxing come Nigeria,” he concluded.
