ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood actor-turned-lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, has obtained the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to seek re-election into the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere Constituency I.
Elliot announced his decision in a statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, formally notifying constituents and party stakeholders of his bid to return to the Assembly.
He described the move as part of efforts to sustain ongoing development and build on previous legislative contributions in the constituency.
“This decision is borne out of a continued commitment to serve, to consolidate on the progress we have made together, and to further advance the collective aspirations of our people,” he said.
The lawmaker also appealed for calm among his supporters as political activities gather momentum, urging them to maintain unity and discipline throughout the process.

“I urge all my supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and focused. Let us continue to uphold peace, unity, and respect as we move forward,” he added.
Elliot further argued that his return would elevate his status to that of a ranking member in the Assembly, a position he said would attract added benefits to the constituency.
“May I state here that my going back makes me automatically a ranking member and loads of benefits come to our constituency,” he said.
The declaration comes amid recent speculations of a rift between Elliot and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, which he has since dismissed.
Speaking during a recent visit to his constituency, Elliot reaffirmed his loyalty to Gbajabiamila, who currently serves as Chief of Staff to the President, while appealing for continued support from party members.
“I don’t have any issue with him. Our leader is a compassionate leader If I have erred in any way, my leader, I am sorry,” he said.
“Give me another chance and let’s move on, and let’s bring more dividends of democracy to the people.”
