ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Suspected terrorists have attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three police officers and injuring two others in the early hours of Saturday.
The assault, which occurred around 1am, threw the quiet agrarian community into panic as residents fled their homes amid sustained gunfire.
Sources said the attackers stormed the camp in large numbers, launching a surprise offensive that overwhelmed officers on duty before carrying out the killings.
A resident, Suleiman Issa, describing the moment and confusion that trailed the attack said, “This ugly killing happened in the early hours of 1am in Tenebo village, Kaiama.
“A terrible situation happened. Bandits came in large numbers and invaded the village. People were killed and some were wounded.”
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Police Command said details were still being compiled.

“I regret to confirm that an attack on the PMF Camp occurred in the early hours of today. I will provide more accurate and detailed information shortly,” the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated.
The latest attack is the third in a series of deadly incidents in Kaiama Local Government Area in recent weeks, raising fresh concerns over worsening insecurity in the region.
On April 20, suspected terrorists overran a joint security outpost in Kemanji community, killing at least three soldiers and two vigilantes, while also carting away an army gun truck and other equipment.
Earlier, on April 10, five members of a local forest guard unit were killed in Nuku community, with the attackers also burning operational vehicles and facilities.
The situation had already escalated in February 2026, when over 200 people were reportedly killed and about 176 others abducted in coordinated attacks on Woro and Nuku communities, including women and children.
Saturday’s attack has further deepened fears among residents, many of whom now worry about the persistent inability of security forces to halt the wave of violence in the area.
