ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Media entrepreneur and publisher, Dele Momodu, has firmly dismissed reports suggesting he is being considered as a running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, insisting that he has no intention of returning to elective politics.
Momodu made the clarification on Thursday through his social media platform, describing the viral claim as a distraction and urging his supporters and political associates to ignore it completely.
“When I first received this poster from a friend, I dismissed it as a joke designed to distract us I will be most grateful if my friends and party members can do me the honour of ignoring this joke,” he said.
He reiterated that he is not seeking any political office, stressing that his focus is now on supporting a broad opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I’m not running for any race again. I’m interested in humbly supporting the coalition of political parties, to work together and oust the incompetent APC government,” Momodu stated.
According to him, his political engagement going forward will be centred on strengthening unity among opposition parties rather than pursuing personal ambition or elective positions.
He added that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) already has several qualified individuals capable of contesting top political offices, stressing that there are “more than enough leaders” within the party structure.
Momodu also addressed recent political tensions and criticisms directed at opposition figures, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He condemned what he described as persistent attacks on Atiku and urged restraint in political commentary.
He further reminded critics that Peter Obi had previously worked with Atiku during the 2019 presidential election, calling for more civility in political engagement.
Momodu warned against inflammatory rhetoric directed at political actors, including President Bola Tinubu, saying such approaches weaken democratic discourse rather than strengthen it.
He maintained that his ultimate political stance would be to support whoever emerges as the consensus candidate of his party or coalition, stressing that his priority remains the building of a united opposition front capable of challenging the ruling party in 2027.
