LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has reflected on the emotional struggles of fame, revealing a desire to create a therapy centre for former public figures while also sharing fears about when to step away from music.
In a viral interview clip, the award-winning singer shared a personal idea he says has been on his mind, a support centre dedicated to helping former celebrities and highly successful public figures who struggle with life after fame.
According to him, many people who achieved major milestones and once enjoyed global attention often find it difficult to adjust when the spotlight fades and people forget them.
“If there was one thing I could build, I would build a centre for people that have been popular and very successful before, a centre for them to have therapy. It’s crazy being on top of the world and the next moment you’re not,” he said.
The “Kante” hitmaker expanded on his thoughts by pointing to the world of sports, explaining that even legendary athletes still face criticism and public pressure despite their achievements.

He referenced his “friend” football star Cristiano Ronaldo, noting the pressure that follows him even with his impressive career.
“Even with soccer… you win all these awards, you win a Champions League, you win World Cup, and people don’t still feel like it’s enough. Look at Ronaldo, he’s my very good friend. When he left the World Cup, I remember being on the internet, they were abusing him so much, after everything he has done,” Davido stated.
The singer explained that this kind of public reaction is part of what makes fame emotionally challenging, adding that it shapes his own fears about longevity in the music industry.
Davido admitted that his biggest concern is making decisions that could damage his legacy after years of hard work.
“That’s my greatest fear. I work too hard for me to come and spoil it with something,” he added.
The celebrated artist maintained that he constantly prays to God for guidance on when to step back while still maintaining his relevance.
He concluded by emphasizing that understanding the right time to quit or slow down is something he thinks about often, especially in an industry where public opinion can shift quickly.
