ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan, intensifying ongoing consultations among opposition figures ahead of future political alignments.
The meeting took place at the Governor’s Office within the State Secretariat and comes less than 72 hours after a high-level opposition summit in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, which attracted key political actors from across the country.
Although details of the meeting were not officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report, sources familiar with the development said the engagement forms part of broader efforts to strengthen opposition cohesion and explore possible alliances.

According to a source, both leaders are involved in what was described as “strategic political consultations,” with discussions centred on recent developments within opposition circles and the need for coordinated action going forward.
The source added that the talks are being held discreetly, with key aspects of the agenda kept under wraps.
Tuesday’s meeting also follows Obi’s earlier engagement with former President Goodluck Jonathan, in what insiders say is part of a wider round of consultations linked to evolving national political dynamics.
Further details are expected to emerge as deliberations continue.
