LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-A viral bread review has sparked a major controversy, with Nigerian TikTok content creator Love Dooshima, alleging mistreatment by police after she honored an official invitation tied to the case.
In a video posted shortly after her release on Wednesday, Dooshima claimed she went to the police station expecting a fair hearing. Instead, she said she was met with hostility, adding that the outcome appeared predetermined.
“I went to the station to honor the invitation of the AIG on the case of bread that they reported, and everything that happened showed my case was determined and concluded before I got there,” she said.
According to her, the experience took a troubling turn immediately she arrived. She alleged that her phones were seized and she had to move and communicate in their presence.
During questioning, Dooshima said she faced criticism over her intentions from the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), whom she described as dismissive. She claimed he accused her of chasing clout rather than raising legitimate concerns.
“The AIG accused me of seeking cheap popularity. He dismissed me, saying I am not an expert and that I should speak on what I know and go straight to the point,” she explained.
However, she maintained again that the disputed video on the bread was part of an awareness content effort to discuss health issues and food safety.

“I tried to explain that the bread video was a follow-up to my ongoing discussions about health and what we consume. It was not something random,” she added.
Tension reportedly increased when she refused to surrender the bread sample featured in her video. Dooshima said she believed keeping part of it was necessary for her own protection and her refusal to hand it over allegedly led to her detention.
“I told them I cannot bring the bread because that is my lifeline. I said they could take samples, but I must keep some for myself. When I said no, the AIG said, ‘Take this woman for detention,’ and signed the papers,” she claimed.
While in custody, the TikToker said she endured insults and profiling, including snide remarks about her being a widow.
“One of them said, ‘Which kind of Satan be this? Your statement say you be widow. Na those woman wey be say their husband die, leave money, na why she wan spend am,’” she recounted.
She also accused officers of suggesting she intended to harm a business. Dooshima described difficult conditions during her time at the station, claiming her psychological and health concerns, including hypertension and hot flashes caused by menopause, were ignored.
“I begged them not to put me in a small, smoky, airtight compartment because I am claustrophobic, hypertensive, and menopausal. I have hot flashes, but I was denied,” she said, insisting her actions were motivated by public interest.
The controversy began after Dooshima posted a video questioning how a loaf of bread remained fresh for nearly two months, triggering widespread reactions online. Despite not naming the bread or showing off the logo, Bon Bread CEO Maria Abdulkadir, filed a complaint, claiming damage to its reputation.
