LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The family rift involving the Okoye brothers of the now defunct P-Square duo has entered a new phase, just days after Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, adjusted his publicly stated birthday from November 18 to November 30.
The long-running conflict comes from a series of allegations made by Mr P, who responded to critics on social media about the name ownership.
He also questioned why critics were upset by his birthday change, adding that all issues will become clearer as time passed.
In recent years, the split between the Okoye siblings has been marked by serious accusations including financial misconduct, mistrust, betrayal claims, and legal battles. Mr P had also taken legal action against his older brother, Jude Okoye, accusing him of allegedly operating a secret company used to divert funds linked to the P-Square brand.

In a series of posts on X, Mr P addressed critics questioning his right to continue using the P-Square identity despite publicly distancing himself from his family.
He insisted that he discovered the name “P-Square” and his contribution to the group’s success gives him ownership of the brand, while also noting that the matter is in court.
Replying directly to critics, he wrote, “Exactly why some of y’all are pained. I discovered the name, I earned it, and now I own it 100. It’s a game of chess i remember we are still in court even as of yesterday! with time, you’ll understand. Una go dey alright las las.”
Expanding on the family conflict, Mr P described the situation as more than a disagreement, framing it as a deep betrayal within the family circle.
He also hinted that upcoming court proceedings could feature documents from Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the EFCC.
“More than a ganged up! I call it betrayal of the highest level. The truth has a way of coming out! wait until the EFCC starts releasing documents in court. Una go dey alright las las,” Mr P stated in another post.

Meanwhile, he pushed back against claims that a sister-in-law, married to his older brother Jude Okoye, played a role in the dispute.
According to him, the alleged financial issues began long before any of the brothers got married.
“Before you drag any woman into this! No woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years. Stop pushing that narrative to suit your agenda. None of us were even married 20 something years ago when this whole betrayal and stealing started! I said what I said,” he added.
He also referenced his older brother Jude Okoye in relation to the allegations tied to the group’s financial history.
Notably, with court proceedings still active and possible regulatory evidence looming, the dispute between the Okoye brothers, once one of Africa’s biggest music acts, shows no sign of slowing down.
