ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as Nigeria’s only viable opposition party capable of challenging and defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Atiku made the assertion in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, where he described the ADC as a party built on strong ideals, solid structure, and a clear sense of purpose.
“I remain convinced that the ADC has risen as Nigeria’s true opposition force one that is strong in ideals, structure, and resolve, and ready to challenge and defeat the failing APC in the elections ahead,” he wrote.

The former vice-president also revealed that he recently hosted stakeholders of the ADC from Adamawa State at his Abuja residence, describing the visit as emotional and significant.
According to him, the engagement provided an opportunity to reinforce the need for unity within the party, especially at the state level.
“I thanked them for the gesture and reminded the new state leadership that unity is now their sacred duty: to heal divisions, carry everyone along, and lead with fairness,” he added.
Atiku’s endorsement of the ADC comes amid ongoing political realignments and repositioning among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties exploring alliances and strategies to challenge the dominance of the APC.
